Description
Nos. 2 and 4 Hob Lane is a farmhouse dated 1717, now used as a house. It is constructed from coursed thin sandstone rubble with quoins, which have been ribbon pointed, and features a slate roof with a chimney at the right gable. The building has a three-bay plan and is two storeys high.
The central entrance door is framed by large jambstones and a rectangular lintel, which has a moulded round-headed panel with raised lettering: T (with the "T" flanked by small gingerbread men). Each floor has three windows, with two on the left and one on the right. The windows in the first bay are both four-light windows with chamfered mullions, and there is a simple hoodmould above the lower window. The third bay contains two square-light windows, also with a chamfered mullion. Additionally, there is a square window to the left of the door and a three-light window above it. The heads of the lights and the mullions are recessed.
The left gable of the building abuts No. 6. At the rear, there is a lean-to at the ground floor of the first bay, a two-light firewindow in the third bay, and four other windows. The interior has not been inspected.
