Description
Brookside Cottage is an 18th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It is constructed from whitewashed sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof with a chimney on the right gable and a stone cross on the left gable. The building has two bays and two storeys, with a single-storey outshut at the rear of the first bay.
The entrance is located to the right of centre and is covered by a gabled wooden canopy. There are two windows on each floor; the ground floor windows are horizontal rectangular casements, with the left window having a chamfered surround and another blocked window to the right. The upper floor windows are small and square. The right end of the front wall has a jagged tear, indicating a former continuation, and there is a blocked first-floor opening in the gable wall.
At the rear, the second bay has one horizontal rectangular window on each floor, with the upper one being smaller. The outshut features a door and a similar window, along with a brick chimney at the corner. The interior has not been inspected.
