Description
No. 11 Church Street East is a house that has been converted into a workshop and offices. It dates from the early 18th century and is built of Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings, topped with a dark slate roof and brick chimneys. The building has an L-plan layout and stands three storeys tall with a basement, featuring six windows, although the first bay on the left is blind.
There are steps leading to a round-arched brick opening on the left, which leads to a flushed door. The next two bays have a late 20th-century roller shutter installed beneath a wooden beam, with flat arches of gauged brick above. The central door is flushed and set in an altered surround. The right two bays on the ground floor have late 20th-century brickwork that includes a plain sash window with a pseudo flat gauged brick arch and a projecting stone sill. The basement in the left bays is slightly recessed in the centre.
The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in wide box frames that are flush with the brickwork, and there are floor strings present. The interior features early 19th-century alterations on the first floor, including architraves and chimney-pieces. The roof is steeply pitched and has end brick chimneys.
