Description
The south entrance to Barnes Park features walls, piers, gates, and railings that were constructed around 1900. The entrance is designed in the Gothic style, with ashlar piers and dwarf walls. The tall octagonal piers, which have plinths and cornices, are topped with high-swept coping and battlemented finials. The low walls are finished with rounded coping. The gates are adorned with patterned panels, dog bars, and scrolled decoration. The square-section railings have hammered fleur-de-lys finials and are positioned next to the principal supports, which include panelled reinforcing sections.
