Description

Hill House is a house located on Humbledon Park Terrace in Sunderland, dating from the early 19th century. It features white painted rough render with painted ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. The house is two storeys tall and has three windows on its main elevation, which faces the garden.

The main entrance is through a renewed door located in a shallow porch between the second and third windows. The first window is a wide, four-light window with a cornice and low sill. The second window is a canted bay with a hipped roof, while the third window, positioned to the right of the door, is a two-light window with a wedge stone lintel and a projecting stone sill. The first-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars, also feature similar lintels and sills.

The low-pitched roof has a transverse ridge chimney situated between the second and third bays and another at the right end. There is a small outbuilding set back on the right, which has a 20th-century door and a fixed light. The rear elevation facing Durham Road has late 20th-century first-floor windows that have been inserted.
