Description
This is a terrace of 14 houses, now used as offices, located on Frederick Street in Sunderland, built around 1830. The buildings are two storeys tall with basements, and each house features two windows. There are steps leading up to six-panelled doors typical of Sunderland, which fold back to reveal an inner door. These doors are set in doorcases with pilasters and an entablature; however, the doorcase of No. 46 has an altered entablature. The houses have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills for the sash windows, some of which have glazing bars while others have been altered. Nos. 45 and 48 feature wide bow windows on the ground floor. The roof includes some dormers, with No. 50 having a canted bay of Sunderland type with slate-hung sides and a gabled roof, while Nos. 47 and 49 have flat-headed roofs. Some of the railings have been renewed.
