Description

Nos. 29 and 30 on Villiers Street are two houses that have been converted into offices, dating from 1790 according to the owner's information. They are constructed of Flemish bond brick, with the ground floor of No. 30 on the left being painted, except for the top floor, which features an ashlar plinth and painted ashlar dressings. The roofs are made of Welsh slate.

Each house stands three storeys high and has three windows. There are steps leading up to recessed six-panelled doors, each with overlights that have radiating glazing bars. The door of No. 30 on the left is set in plain arched reveals with a renewed brick surround, while No. 29 on the right has a panelled arched reveal with a doorcase featuring Tuscan pilasters. The leafy capitals described in a previous listing are missing at the time of the survey, and there is an entablature with paterae in the friezes on the columns that support an open pediment set on a painted stucco wedge lintel.

No. 30 has had its ground-floor glazing renewed, and the top floor has been partly rebuilt in garden wall bond, with one renewed sash window and others featuring glazing bars, brick sills, and soldier-course lintels. All other windows are sashes with glazing bars, wedge stone lintels, and projecting stone sills.
