Description
No 36 on Front Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with 18th century and later alterations. It is constructed of roughly squared coursed sandstone and has a roof made of Welsh slate. The building has two storeys and three bays. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with an oblong fanlight, set within a later porch made of brick and stone that has a chamfered stone lintel and barge boards. There are two 17th century window openings, indicated by joints and blocked lintels, which now contain sashes in broad frames. The house has two later brick chimneys at the ends. Inside, at the west ground floor chimney breast, there is a wide flattened Tudor-arched stone lintel with a moulded chamfer, and the adjacent window has a deep splay.
