Numbers 2-30 And Railings To Front

This is a terrace of fifteen houses, built around 1840. The front railings are also listed. The houses are constructed of English bond brickwork, with an ashlar stone basement and stone dressings. They have Welsh slate roofs. The terrace is arranged with basements and three storeys; the central four houses (numbers 12 to 18) and house number 2 each have three bays, while the others have two bays. House number 30 has a two-storey entrance bay set back on the left, raised around 1984. There are six or seven steps leading to four-panelled doors with vertical bead detailing. The door to number 18 is covered, while the door to number 2 is centrally positioned. Each door has an overlight, some with glazing bars, and architraves. The door to number 30 was later replaced in the 19th century. Stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops are present. The sash windows have wedge stone lintels and many retain original glazing bars, although the upper floors of number 6 have 20th-century glazing. The windows have projecting stone sills. A first-floor band and shallow end brick pilasters are also visible. A sandstone block inscribed "VICTORIA TERRACE" is positioned on the right-hand side of the building. Many of the original handrails to the steps remain, and spearhead railings are present in front of number 28.
