Description

No. 2 Jesmond Road is a house dating from around 1832. It is built of English bond brick with a painted ashlar basement and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a basement and three storeys, featuring four bays. The third bay has a renewed door with an overlight set within an architrave. The windows are fitted with wedge stone lintels and have glazing bars, with projecting stone sills, except for the full-length windows on the first floor which have a sill band. There is an eaves gutter cornice, and the low-pitched roof is adorned with ashlar-corniced brick chimneys. The left return bay of the Great North Road block creates a fifth blind bay, contributing to the symmetrical design of the house. A balcony that was mentioned in a previous listing description has been removed.
