Description
No. 45 South Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of English bond brick with an ashlar plinth and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building stands three storeys high with attics and features three bays.
On the left side, there is a small door with an overlight, set beneath a soldier course lintel. Inside, there is a marble-covered step leading up to a wide door with three panels and a fanlight, which is set in a keyed arch in the second bay. The windows have flat stone lintels and are fitted with glazing bars, while the ground floor has projecting stone sills and sill bands above. The end bays on the first floor feature oriel windows with hipped roofs. Stone brackets support the guttering, and the roof includes two gabled dormers with boarded peaks.
