Description

Carlton Terrace comprises a row of twelve houses, with numbers 3 to 12 forming a single unit, along with numbers 14 and 15. The terrace dates to approximately 1852 and is constructed of English garden wall bond brick, featuring a painted ashlar plinth and decorative dressings. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate.

The houses are three storeys high and each has three bays. The front doors, which are eight-panelled with overlights, are set within architraves on the right-hand side of each house. To the left of each house is a stone mullioned canted bay window at ground floor level. The upper floors have three plain sash windows each, with wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills. An eaves gutter cornice runs along the top of the terrace. The low-pitched roof is punctuated by ashlar-corniced brick chimneys, with a later dormer window added to number 3. The iron railings in front of the canted bay window of number 3 are of Gothic design, complete with arcading and finials.
