Description

No. 69 Westgate Road is a house and shop that is now part of an arts centre. It was built in the late 19th century and restored between 1982 and 1984. The building features stucco with ashlar dressings and quoins, a terra-cotta corbel table, and moulded eaves. It has a Welsh slate roof adorned with cast-iron crestings. The structure is three storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays. The ground floor has 20th-century shops, while the upper floors have slightly projecting quoined outer bays that contain tripartite sash windows, with the first-floor windows featuring raised centre lights. The central bay has a single window beneath a blank second floor. The corbel table supports a central semi-circular dormer, with two side circular dormers framed in architraves that have aprons and guttae below, all set in tall hipped gables with ornate crestings. The building is included for its group value.
