Description
The town boundary stone is located in the rear wall of number 65 Westgate Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. It dates from the 18th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The stone features a tooled ashlar lintel that has been resited above a passage arch. In the center, there is a carved shield displaying the arms of the town of Newcastle, which includes three castles. Historically, the rear of the Westgate Road properties marked the boundary of the town.
