Description
No. 53 Westgate Road is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of bright red brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is four storeys high and has five bays.
In the 1960s, a front and passageway were inserted on the right, made of late 19th-century stone. The fascia includes a cast iron rail on the cornice. The upper floors are adorned with tapered end pilasters and a cornice at each level. The sash windows are set within architraves and have stone panels above them, with aprons on the top two floors that create vertical stone strips. The building also features moulded sills and capitals on the top pilasters at the level of the window lintels, along with a top entablature that has a covered cornice. The roof is large and includes two ridge chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
