Description
No. 57 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the mid-18th century, with elements from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features squared coursed limestone with an ashlar facade and a part brick rear wall. The roofs are covered with 20th-century stone slate and Welsh slate. The structure has a T-shape plan and consists of two storeys with an attic.
The main front has a three-window range of 19th-century sash windows on the first floor, which are set under flat stone arches. The ground floor includes 20th-century windows and a door that is enclosed by a wooden surround. To the right, there is a later addition that retains the head of the original ground floor window. The building has a pair of hipped roof dormers, ashlar gable parapets, and kneelers, along with ashlar stacks that feature moulded cornices at the ridge and ends. The rear gable has a large external stack, and there is a 20th-century single-storey extension at the back. Inside, the building has chamfered ceiling beams.
