Description

No. 4 Clayton Street West is a house that has been converted into part of a shop. It was built around 1837, likely by architect John Wardle for developer Richard Grainger. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar and has four storeys and four bays, with a rounded corner on the left side facing Pink Lane. The upper floors feature sash windows, with the windows in the left bay being tripartite and having glazing bars set in plain reveals. There are floor bands, a prominent cornice on the second floor, and a top cornice with a blocking course. The roof is not visible.
