NZ 4418 NE STOCKTON ON TEES FINKLE STREET (north side) 30/51 19.1.51 No 9 GV II*

C17 in good condition. 2 1/2 storeys. 4 windows. Stone, roughly squared and dressed, with brick modillion band over ground floor, brick flat arches to flush framed glazing bar sash windows, toothed bend over 1st floor and another below the eaves. The space between the latter bands occupied by 3 blind (brick) oculi and a small round window. Pantile roof; raised verge to left with remains of a kneeler, 2 fine brick chimneys. In centre of ground floor is a late C19, early C20 square bay shop window with glazing bars to moulded cornice. Doorway right, to shop. Plain doorway inserted to left with wooden lintel. Through passage door on far left in brick blocked opening originally with slightly cambered sash. Yard to rear. 2½ storey brick extension at rear. Interior: some panelling evident beside ground floor chimney; good C18 ramped staircase. Main interest is in attic which has 3 upper or middle crucks in room over rear extension with collar beams to purlins and 2 in front garret with brackets to collars. Chimney stack swept back in corbelled courses from position between 1st and 2nd windows from left to position on right of raised verge.
