Description

The war memorial, located to the west of St. Nicholas Church in Guisborough, is a tall tapered sandstone cross set on a rectangular pedestal. It features a panelled octagonal base that rests on three octagonal steps, and it was constructed around 1920. The pedestal, base, and the uppermost step display bronze plaques that bear memorial inscriptions and the names of those who died in the 1914-1919 and 1939-1945 Wars. A bronze sword is affixed to the west face of the cross. The memorial is enclosed by stone posts and iron chains. It is included for its group value with St. Nicholas' Church.
