Description
70 and 72 Church Street are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed from chevron dressed sandstone, with No. 70 featuring a clay pantile roof, while No. 72 has a late 20th century interlocking clay tile roof. Both cottages are two storeys high and have two windows on each floor, all of which have been altered or enlarged. The doorways are located on the left-hand side of each cottage, with No. 70 having a six-panelled door. Above the doorway of No. 72, there is an upper part of pointed arched window tracery, which likely comes from the ruins of St. Mary's Priory. These cottages are included for their group value with Nos. 46 to 52 (even numbers) and No. 76 Church Street.
