Description

WILTON WILTON VILLAGE NZ 51 NE 7/117 No. 5 G.V. II

Schoolmaster's house, c.1854, with slightly later rear extension. White "Pease" brick with stone dressings; red brick to right return and rear. Welsh slate roofs with stone ridge copings. Fishscale-pattern clay tiles on bay window roof. Lateral stack, at rear, rebuilt in brick. L-plan. 1 1/2 storeys, 3 bays, with projecting gabled left bay. Central lean-to porch with boarded segment-headed door. 3-light windows on ground floor and 2-light in gable, with chamfered timber mullions, hoodmoulds and battered sills. Dormer window at right has battered sill and stone gable copings. Carved and pierced bargeboard with spear pendants, on porch, and remains of similar on other gables. Ridge stack with 2 corniced octagonal concrete shafts enriched with strapwork. Left return has canted bay, with similar mullioned window, under hipped roof. Similar dormer window. Gabled 2-storey rear wing and single-storey monopitch extension.
