Description

This is a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century, possibly designed by Ignatius Bonomi. They are now combined as a single cottage. The cottages are built of chevron-tooled dressed sandstone, with a Welsh slate roof featuring a stone ridge and gable copings. The buildings are 1½ storeys and have 4 bays. The central bays project forward and are covered by linked gables. Boarded doors are set in chamfered surrounds in the narrower end bays. The windows are chamfered, with 3-light mullioned openings on the ground floor and 2-light mullioned openings on the first floor. Hoodmolds are positioned above the ground-floor openings. A ridge stack contains four partly-rendered square shafts, corniced and conjoined. A mid to late 20th century single-storey rear extension is not considered to be of special interest.
