Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Wilton Village are a pair of cottages built in the early to mid-19th century, possibly designed by Ignatius Bonomi. They are constructed from chevron-tooled dressed sandstone and feature a Welsh slate roof with stone ridge copings and a central stack that has been rebuilt in brick. The cottages are two storeys high, with No. 2 presenting a three-bay entrance front to the west, while No. 1 is accessed from the east side. The openings are chamfered and are topped with hoodmoulds. No. 2 has a central boarded door with an overlight, along with three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows on the first floor, all featuring chamfered wood mullions. The roof is shallow-pitched and pyramidal, with a deep overhang at the eaves. The right return of the building has a blind window above a boarded false door, while the left return features similar first-floor windows and a pent privy adjoining it. Inside, there are boarded doors set in narrow moulded surrounds. A single-storey extension to the east is not considered of special interest.
