Description
Tocketts Mill is a watermill built around 1810 on the site of an earlier mill. It features chevron dressed sandstone and a Welsh slate roof that is hipped to the left-hand side. The building has stone ridge and gable copings, with a brick stack against the east gable. It stands four storeys high, and an aqueduct runs through the front elevation at ground level to supply water to the pitch-back wheel. There is a round-headed doorway on the right-hand side. The openings on the ground and first floors are asymmetrical, while the second and third floors are symmetrical with four bays that include vertically louvred vents, doors, and Yorkshire sashes. The rear elevation has a similar arrangement. Inside, all machinery and the water wheel have been repaired and restored to working order since 1975.
