Description
Timm's Coffee House is a manor house dated 1704, as indicated by a sundial, and was raised by one storey around 1800. It now functions partly as a public house. The building is constructed of brick with painted stone dressings and a moulded stone plinth. The rear wall, gable ends, and rear wing are rendered and scored to imitate ashlar. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate and feature stone gable copings, block kneelers, and rebuilt brick end stacks.
The house has three storeys and a five-bay south front. The slightly projecting central bay contains a six-panel door with an overlight featuring glazing bars, accessed by two steps and framed by a rusticated quoin surround with a triple keystone. The sash windows, which also have glazing bars, have been renewed in the two right bays on the first floor. The building has painted sills and painted brick voussoirs in the two left bays on the ground and first floors. The central bay and two right bays on the ground and first floors feature wedge lintels, while the second floor has plain painted lintels. Above the central first-floor window, there is a painted sundial inscribed with "F.E." and "1704." A rear extension includes a three-storey wing that aligns with the left side of a central round-headed stair window with intersecting glazing bars. Extensions adjoining the west sides of the house and wing are not of interest.
