Description

Comeytrowe Manor is a house from the mid to late 18th century, with a rainwater head dated 1773, and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from rendered brick and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic storey in the wing, and it consists of six bays, with a wing projecting from the left bay, a rear stair tower, and an outshut at the back of bays two and three.

The south front of the house is symmetrical, featuring a central door made up of six raised and fielded panels framed by a moulded wooden architrave. The ground floor windows are sashes, while the first-floor windows are horned 12-pane sashes, all set in moulded stone architraves. There is a 20th-century single-storey verandah on a stone podium, which has open geometrical and trellis timberwork and a hipped slate roof at the right end. The right gable has a raised, coped verge and an end stack, with another stack on the ridge between the first and second bays. The wing appears truncated and has two late 20th-century 16-pane sashes on the first and attic floors. The inner return of the wing features a wide window on the ground and first floors with architraves similar to the others, a 20th-century casement on the ground floor, and a 16-pane sash above. At the eaves on the left side, there is a scalloped lead rainwater head with a horse motif, flanked by the initials "IW" and the date "1773."

At the rear, the stair tower has a large 12-pane sash on the first floor and a hipped roof. To its right is an added two-storey outshut with a catslide roof. Further right, there is a three-light casement window on the first floor, with a two-light window above it set under the eaves, the right-hand light featuring a stanchion and latticed leading. The left return of the wing has a six-panel door in a 20th-century porch, with a bell at the eaves.

Inside, the manor features six-panel doors in moulded architraves and window shutters. The main range's ground floor right-hand room has a panelled dado with a fluted rail, an elaborate dentil cornice, and a fireplace made of marble and polished stone, complete with a moulded architrave, fluted pilasters, roundel insets, and a cornice. The rear ground floor room in the wing has a corner fireplace made of polished stone with a moulded wooden architrave.
