Description

Nos 115 and 117 Galmington Road is a building of medieval origin, now subdivided into three separate units, with a late 19th century to early 20th century external appearance. The main range runs east and west and features a cross passage that leads to a shared rear yard. The building is two storeys high with roughcast walls and pantile roofing, displaying eaves with exposed ends of rafters. There are three brick stacks located at each end and one halfway along the front wall. The rear gable of No 2 has pierced bargeboards, and modern wood casements with two and three lights are present. A lean-to verandah is located on the ground floor, along with modern doors. The cross passage, which contains a stud and plank screen, is accessed from the rear through a three-centred arched frame. To the east of the door, there is a large chamfered beam. The medieval timber frame of the house remains largely intact, although the hall and other chambers have been subdivided. The building is noted for the significance of its interior.
