Description

The Lawn is a semi-detached house, largely dating from the late 18th century, with an earlier core of 17th century origin. It appears on Ordnance Survey maps as White Lodge. The exterior is roughcast over rubble stonework, with rusticated quoins, and a shallow-pitched slate roof. It features moulded cornices with lead lion's masks and brick stacks to the gable ends. The house is double pile, forming the east side of an L-shaped plan, adjacent to White Lodge (listed separately).

The building is two storeys high, with three bays. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, except for the central window which has 12 panes. On the ground floor, the 12-pane sash windows are contained within canted bays built on rubble plinths and topped with hipped lead roofs. A central doorcase uses broken pediments and Doric pilasters, with a fanlight above a half-glazed door from the 20th century. A long, single-bay, two-storey wing extends to the left, linking to White Lodge (listed separately).
