Description

The boundary stone, located 500 meters southeast of Claphow Farmhouse, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is made of dressed sandstone and measures approximately 25 centimeters by 30 centimeters, standing 45 centimeters high with a domed top. The east face of the stone is inscribed with the letter "W," while the west face features the letter "P." This stone marks the boundary between land owned by Pease and Partners, who were ironmasters, and land owned by the Wharton family of the Skelton Estate.
