Description

Trout Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with an extension added in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a mid-20th century concrete tiled roof with a stone ridge, gable copings, and moulded kneelers at the left end, along with two reduced ridge stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three windows on the principal (south) front. The entrance is located in the right extension. The early 19th-century sash windows have glazing bars and stone sills. Above the right-hand bay, there is a gabled full dormer with a sash window. The right extension is two storeys tall, with a basement and attic, and has two windows. The left-hand bay features a six-panelled door with an overlight that has glazing bars. The sash windows, which also have glazing bars, have been renewed on the right side. The right end has a hipped roof. The right return has two windows similar to those on the front and a basement window to the left, along with a flat-roofed dormer. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey extension. Inside, the farmhouse retains original panelled doors and window shutters. The right extension features moulded ceiling cornices on the ground floor, panelled window shutters, and a staircase with a ramped handrail, stick balusters, and shaped tread-ends.
