Description

This is a cottage dating from around 1800, located in East Terrace, Skelton and Brotton. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and has a clay pantile roof with a stone ridge, gable copings, and a rebuilt brick and stone end stack on the right side. The cottage is two storeys high with two windows. A central doorway contains a late 20th-century glazed door and its original overlight, featuring glazing bars. Above the doorway is a dentilled entablature that runs between, but is missing from, the heads of fixed-light, segmental-plan bay windows, which retain their original glazing bars and much of their original glass. The first floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars and painted stone sills.
