Description

Nos. 45 and 47 High Street is a farmhouse and barn, now two houses, dating from the mid-17th century. There are mid-19th century rear extensions at No. 45 and a mid to late 19th century rear extension at No. 47. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings and moulded kneelers on the left end. It has a stone ridge stack and rebuilt brick end stacks. The rear extension of No. 45 has late 20th century concrete tiles, while No. 47's extension has clay pantiles.

The structure is two storeys tall, originally featuring two windows on the left and a barn on the right. There are traces of original window surrounds that have been altered to accommodate renewed sash windows with glazing bars. The mid-19th century off-centre doorway has a four-panelled door located between the bays. The original doorway to the right of No. 47, situated between the barn and the house, has a double lintel, quoin surround, and a four-panelled door. Further to the right, there is a canted bay window with sashes and a cornice, along with two sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and a chamfered garret light on the left return, which features one chamfered mullion and is partly blocked on the left, holding a sash.

The rear of No. 45 includes a chamfered light on the ground floor and an altered first-floor three-light chamfered mullioned window that holds two fixed lights and a sash. No. 45 also has a single-storey rear extension, while No. 47 has a two-storey rear extension. Notably, No. 45 retains its original beamed ceilings on the ground floor.
