Description
Numbers 55 and 57 are a pair of cottages from the late 18th century, with No. 55 currently used for storage and No. 57 disused. They are constructed of painted brick on a stone plinth, with coursed random rubble sandstone on the rear elevation. The cottages feature a clay pantile roof with stone ridge coping and a central stack. They are two storeys high and consist of two bays, each with boarded doors on the left and right sides, and Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars. The listing also includes a single-storey outhouse attached to the north side of No. 57, which is also from the late 18th century, made of dressed sandstone with a clay pantile roof and a small timber shuttered window opening.
