Description

The ice house, located 100 meters northeast of Felton Park, is likely from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared rubble with cut dressings. The structure features a segmental-vaulted passage, although its front wall and doorway have been damaged, leading to a rebated hatch that opens into a barrel-vaulted ice chamber situated just below the roof level. The side walls of the ice chamber slope inward at the base, and the chamber reaches a height of approximately 5 meters above the rubble infill. The lack of brickwork indicates that this ice house is relatively early, especially in contrast to the nearby brick garden wall, which is dated 1774.
