Description

This milestone, located 50 metres north of the gate to Wallington car park, dates from the mid-18th century. It is made of stone and originally painted red, with later white paint added. The milestone has a quadrant section and stands 0.65 metres high. It indicates distances to Rothbury (13 miles) and Hexham (18 miles).
