Description
The North-East Courtyard Range and courtyard wall at Wallington Hall is a Grade II* listed structure that dates from the mid-18th century. Originally built for stabling, it now serves as housing. The building is constructed from squared stone with decorative dressings and features slate roofs. It has an L-shaped plan with two storeys; the west range consists of seven bays, while the north range has nine bays. Notable architectural details include raised quoins and surrounds, a blocked segmental carriage arch with a rusticated surround in the first bay of the west range, and sash windows, some of which have been renewed. The roofs are hipped and are topped with stepped and corniced stone stacks.
The flat-coped courtyard wall extends south from the west range and then turns east to connect with the north-west wing of the Hall. There is a gateway next to the west range that features piers with banded rustication and moulded caps, while the gateway to the south has piers with rustication, vermiculate detailing on the south face, and pedimented caps.
Buildings located at the rear of the west range are not of interest.
