Description
Highlaws Farmhouse is a house dated 1728, with the initials "W.D.A." (William and Dorothy Aynsley) originally on the lintel of the north door, now concealed. A later 19th-century rear wing was added. The front elevation is of squared stone, with the left return rendered and the right return of rubble. The rear wing is of squared stone with tooled and margined dressings. The roof is covered in slate.
The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical plan of five bays. The central entrance features a six-panel door within a wave-moulded surround. The windows are sash windows set within earlier moulded stone surrounds. The gables are coped and feature moulded kneelers; stepped and corniced ashlar stacks are present. The rear wing has twin gables, raised quoins, and window surrounds.
