Description
Little Whittington Farmhouse is a house built in the late 18th century, with a mid-19th century rear wing. The structure is made of coursed rubble with tooled dressings, and the wing features tooled-and-margined stone. The roof is primarily covered with stone slates, except for the wing, which has Welsh slates. The left end stack has been rebuilt in brick.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays, presenting a symmetrical façade. The central entrance features a renewed door with a two-pane overlight above it. The windows are renewed six-pane sashes, and all openings are framed with alternating-block surrounds. Above the door, there is a re-set panel dated 1703, which displays the Weldon coat of arms along with the initials WW and MW, representing William and Margaret Weldon, all set within a moulded surround. The ends of the building have stacks, and the returns exhibit reverse-stepped coping.
