Description
Halton Red House and the attached cottage are a farmhouse and cottage built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. The structure is made of ashlar stone and features a Welsh slate roof, forming an L-plan. It is two storeys high with five bays. The four left bays contain 12-pane sash windows. The projecting cross-gabled right bay, which dates from the early 19th century, has a 4-light mullioned window on the ground floor and a 3-light window above.
The gabled roof includes kneelers, a ball finial on the cross gable, ridged coping, and two tall triple conjoined and corniced ridge stacks. The lower three-bay cottage attached on the left is primarily constructed from Roman stones.
