Description

The icehouse located approximately 100 yards south-west of Kennels Cottage dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed stone, with ashlar used on the interior. The entrance features two tunnel-vaulted ante chambers, although the vaults are now partly collapsed. The ice chamber has a high, domed roof, with the inner skin of the dome still intact while the outer skin has been removed. Inside, there is a large ovoid chamber that is about 15 feet deep.
