Description
The farm buildings located to the west of East Matfen Farmhouse date back to the 18th century and consist of a stable, byre, and granary. They are constructed from squared stone and topped with an asbestos roof. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape and rise to two storeys. The front block features three symmetrical bays, with a central boarded door and small shuttered windows. There is a row of pigeon holes with small stone alighting ledges positioned below the eaves, and the roof is hipped.
To the right, there is a single-storey, one-bay addition that includes a boarded door and a gabled roof. The rear range has two stable-type doors on the ground floor, along with a similar pitching door above. The gabled roof is adorned with 18th-century kneelers. Inside, the buildings retain old roof timbers.
