Description

Numbers 16 and 17 Southside are two houses that have been subdivided into separate units. They were built in the early 19th century and feature random rubble construction with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof.

The south front of No. 16 is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes a central wooden porch adorned with Gothic bargeboards and a fanlight with radial glazing bars, leading to a six-panel inner door. The windows are 16-pane sashes set in raised surrounds, and the gabled roof has banded end stacks.

The north front of No. 17 features a large stone gabled porch with a chamfered Tudor-arched doorway, accessed by three steps leading to the inner door. To the right, there is a projecting bay window with a large two-light mullioned window and a pent roof. The other windows on this front are also 16-pane sashes.
