Description

The bridge at the west end of the village green in Matfen dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a flat lintel that is divided into three channels by two piers, which have triangular cutwaters. The base of the parapets has chamfered bands, and the parapets themselves are boldly curved in plan. They are topped with ridged coping and square end piers that have pyramidal caps.
