Description

The well located 30 metres south of West House in Whalton is likely from the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features cast iron elements with ceramic troughs. A pipe in a low wall supplies water to a pair of rectangular troughs, which are stamped with the name J. Jameson & Son from Corbridge. There is a drain between the troughs that empties into a grate set in a rectangular pavement made of stone setts.
