Description
Fawsley Farm's well-house, dating from the early 16th century and repaired in the 18th century, is constructed of dressed ironstone with extensive brick patching. This small square structure is situated on a hillside overlooking Fawsley Farm. It features a small chamfered round-headed doorway with a plank door located on the south-west side, slightly left of center, with brickwork on the right angle and to the back and sides. The roof is a stepped stone pyramidal design topped with a finial. Inside, there is a fine 8-ribbed vault with chamfered stone ribs, and steps lead down to the water. The well has a reliable water supply and previously provided water to Fawsley Hall through lead pipes, although the pipeline has been severed by an access road to a nearby quarry.
