Description

Fawsley Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly a vicarage, built in the 18th century with early 19th-century alterations. It features dressed ironstone construction, an old tile roof, and brick end stacks, forming an L-shaped plan. The principal front faces the garden and is two storeys high with an attic, comprising a three-window range. The central entrance has a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a 19th-century timber gabled porch that has bargeboards. This is flanked by tripartite sash windows, with a 12-pane window in the middle and 4-pane windows on the sides. The first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes. All windows are equipped with stone sills and stone lintels that have keyblocks, and the building features a plinth, quoins, a storey band, and three hipped roof dormers with 6-pane horned sashes, along with stone-coped gables that have kneelers. The left side elevation includes a six-panel door with an overlight in a similar porch. To the left of the gable end, there is a five-window range with matching sash windows and dormers. Inside, the farmhouse has stone-flagged floors, boxed spine beams, and a 19th-century staircase.
