Description

This is a milepost located 200 yards north of the end of Bowsden Road, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and stands approximately 2 feet high. The milepost has a triangular shape with a rounded back and a canted top. One face is inscribed with "WR" for Wooler, "BER" for Berwick, and the top features "MOR" for Morpeth, indicating distances of 9 miles, 7 miles, and 40 miles respectively.
