Description
Berrington House is a house built in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and has a Scottish slate roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and is two storeys high, with the front block featuring three bays across and two bays deep. There is a 20th-century central canted rusticated porch that has a dentilled cornice and a parapet. The centre bay projects slightly forward and is accented with raised quoins, which are also found at the corners of the building. The house has 12-pane sash windows, a moulded cornice, and a plain parapet. Above the centre bay, there is a higher panelled parapet that includes paterae in the frieze, a further cornice, and guilloche moulding. The roof is hipped and has a rendered ridge stack.
Inside, the house features a staircase with decorative wrought-iron balusters, several attractive wood fireplaces, and six-panelled doors set in fluted surrounds. The room on the left side of the ground floor also includes two niches with ogee-headed doors.
