Description
Bridge Mill is a corn mill and miller's house dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of ashlar stone and has a Welsh slate roof, forming an L-plan structure with two storeys and attics, comprising six bays in total. The mill occupies the right four bays, while the left two bays are part of the miller's house, featuring rusticated quoins.
The mill section has a two-leaf boarded door on the left, accompanied by a 10-pane overlight beneath a flat arch with tall, finely-shaped voussoirs. To the right, there is another two-leaf door leading to the Wheelhouse, also with a similar arch. Between these doors, there are two windows with fixed 15-pane upper sections and shuttered lower parts. A sill band runs along the first floor, which has three boarded-up windows and a two-leaf pitching door with a 10-pane overlight to the right, all featuring flat arches.
The two bays belonging to the miller's house have 12-pane sash windows on the first floor with flat arches, while the ground floor has large wedge lintels. The eaves cornice is present, and the roof is gabled on the right with flat coping and hipped on the left.
On the left return, the miller's house consists of three bays. It features a central panelled door set in a raised surround, with ground- and first-floor sill bands and a broader lintel band on the top floor. The windows are 12-pane sashes with wedge lintels on the ground floor and flat arches above.
Inside the house, there is a mid-18th century staircase with a cut string, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail. The interior also includes six-panelled doors with panelled reveals and panelled shutters.
