Description
This is a milepost located 580 metres east of New Moor crossroads, likely dating from the early 20th century and made by Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and painted white with black figures. The milepost features a shield-shaped plaque that displays the distances to Cornhill (29 miles) and Morpeth (15 miles), set on a circular shaft. There is also a lower rectangular plate indicating Wooler (16 miles). The overall height of the milepost is 0.6 metres.
